Private Reindeer Experience

2 hours

Easy

Enjoy a peaceful reindeer sleigh ride through snowy forests, meet the reindeer of our family farm, and hear about traditional reindeer herding and life in Lapland. Warm up in a traditional kota hut with hot blueberry juice and homemade cinnamon rolls.

Experience the peaceful rhythm of Lapland on a traditional reindeer sleigh ride through snowy forests and the quiet Arctic countryside. Guided by our gentle reindeer, this relaxing 1.5 km journey offers a moment to slow down and enjoy the silence and beauty of nature.

After the ride, you’ll have time to meet the reindeer of our family farm up close. Feed them by hand and hear about their work, personalities, and everyday life. For us, reindeer are not just animals — they are our life and deeply loved members of our family and culture. Our farm has been a reindeer farm for countless generations, and reindeer herding remains an important part of our daily life.

Inside our warm traditional kota hut, we gather by the fire to enjoy hot blueberry juice and freshly baked cinnamon rolls. We will share stories about our family’s reindeer farm, traditional reindeer herding through the changing seasons, and the remarkable reindeer itself — an Arctic animal uniquely adapted to the extreme northern environment.

If you wish, you can also try suopunki throwing, the traditional lasso technique still used today for catching free ranging reindeer in the wilderness.

This authentic and heartfelt experience offers a genuine connection to Lapland’s nature, traditions, and way of life.

What's included?

    Happy, beloved reindeer

A real-life local reindeer herder as your guide

    Meeting and feeding reindeer

    Exclusions

Transportation to the farm is not included.

Winter clothing is not included. You will need to wear warm outdoor clothing suitable for Arctic weather conditions.

      Please note

Although we are part of Rovaniemi, our location is truly in the countryside. Here, you can experience the authentic atmosphere and magic of Lapland, surrounded by Arctic nature and reindeer living in their natural environment. It's the perfect place to pause and disconnect from the bustle of the city, and to reconnect with the quiet beauty of the North.

The final 20 kilometers of the road leading to us is a small village road that winds through beautiful northern landscapes of hills and forests. It’s a narrow and occasionally winding route, where a safe and comfortable driving speed is around 50-60 km/h.

Please allow 30 minutes for this last stretch so you can drive calmly, safely, and take in the scenery.

Please dress warmly for the tours. We do provide extra blankets and warm layers to keep you comfortable, but having your own proper winter clothing will always make the experience more enjoyable, especially in colder weather.

The temperature limit for the outdoor tours is around –35°C. If the weather is colder than this, we will cancel the day’s outdoor tours for safety reasons and provide you a full refund.

Your comfort and safety — as well as that of our beloved reindeer — are always our top priorities.
