Midnight Sun Campfire Evening
Summer Campfire Evening at a Reindeer Farm
Experience the magic of a summer evening in Finnish Lapland around an open fire on a real family-run reindeer farm.
Gather with us in our traditional kota as we prepare authentic Finnish campfire treats together. We'll roast reindeer sausages over the open fire and bake traditional Finnish pancakes (muurinpohjaletut), served with local jam and warm bilberry juice, while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of an Arctic summer evening.
Throughout the evening, your guide, a genuine local reindeer herder, will share stories about reindeer, reindeer herding, local history, wildlife, and everyday life in Lapland. There is plenty of time for questions, conversation, and simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
During the evening, you'll have the opportunity to meet all the animals that call our farm home. Our free-ranging reindeer may wander by the farm in their own time, while our friendly Shetland Ponies graze peacefully in their summer pasture beside the kota. You'll also meet our Lapponian Herders, Finland's native reindeer herding dogs. Every encounter takes place on the animals' own terms, allowing you to experience their natural behaviour in a calm and respectful way.
Together we'll slow down and enjoy the unique light of the Midnight Sun. We can relax around the fire, listen to the sounds of the forest, learn to recognise some of the common birds of Lapland by their songs, observe the surrounding wildlife, and simply enjoy the peace and beauty of Arctic nature.
If you wish, you can also try suopunki, the traditional reindeer lasso still used by reindeer herders today.
This relaxed and authentic experience offers a genuine glimpse into summer life on a working reindeer farm and is suitable for guests of all.
