Arctic Kota Evening – An Evening by the Fire with Reindeer and Reindeer Herders

2 hours

Moderate

Indulge in an exclusive Arctic evening within a secluded old-growth forest, savoring Lappish delicacies by an open fire, surrounded by freely roaming reindeer and the enchanting allure of the polar night under a starlit sky.

Slow down and experience the peaceful atmosphere of an Arctic winter evening in the heart of an old-growth forest.

Join us in our traditional kota, where a warm open fire, the quiet of the polar night and the company of our reindeer create an unforgettable evening. Our reindeer roam freely around the forest and often wander near the kota, allowing you to observe them naturally while enjoying the warmth of the fire.

Together we'll prepare traditional Finnish pancakes (muurinpohjaletut) over the open fire and enjoy them with cloudberry jam and warm bilberry juice. During the evening you'll also sample a selection of local Lappish delicacies, including freshly baked cinnamon buns, Lappish squeaky cheese (leipäjuusto) and cold-smoked reindeer wraps (rieska).

As we gather around the fire, we'll share stories about reindeer herding, local traditions and everyday life in Finnish Lapland. This is an evening for slowing down, listening, asking questions and simply enjoying the unique atmosphere of the Arctic wilderness.

Outside, the gentle darkness of the polar night surrounds us. On clear evenings, thousands of stars fill the sky, while the moon illuminates the snowy landscape in ever-changing ways throughout its cycle. If we're lucky, we may even witness the Northern Lights dancing above the forest.

The stars, the moon and the aurora are gifts of nature, and no one can promise when they will appear. What we can promise is a cosy and authentic evening around the fire, surrounded by reindeer, local reindeer herders and the peaceful beauty of the Arctic forest.
